Journal on a daily or weekly basis. This will serve two purposes. First, it will help you to relieve stress by serving as an outlet for your emotions and frustrations. Second, it will serve as a keepsake for years to come. As you grow older and have adult children or grandchildren, you can share your journal with them. This could be a special treasure to an adult child that is preparing for her own marriage and experiencing stress.
Engage in vigorous physical activity such as running or racquetball. This will give your body a natural dose of pleasure hormones called endorphins, natural stress relievers. Make your goal to do 20 to 30 minutes of physical activity on most--if not all--days per week.
Spend quality time with your future husband. The closeness you feel when you're with the one you love can have a positive effect on your stress. Make it a point to not discuss the wedding plans if they are a source of debate. Simply focus on enjoying each other's company. Find an activity you both love to do during your alone time to enhance the enjoyment experience and stress relieving effects.
Take frequent breaks from wedding planning. This is especially important as the wedding day draws near. As the wedding gets closer, the pressure starts to mount at an increasing rate. Don't devote your time and mental energy to planning your wedding around the clock. This can prove to be too much for your mental health. Even the most level-headed and laid back person can be frazzled by everything that goes into planning a wedding.
Take at least ten minutes per day to meditate alone in the quiet. Turn off your phone's ringer and turn off your computer. The simple act of being alone in the quite away from all the hustle and bustle of life and an impending wedding can give you a chance to relax and de-stress.
